Parents of twin girls Daniella and Emilia came to us for their newborn shoot because they wanted to capture some
timeless memories of their beautiful miracle girls while they were still little. We spent a number of hours with the
family and did a range of different poses and set ups where we could include them both (and separately) in the images.
This is the stunning result.

Recently, we captured the beautiful caesarean birth of baby Eleanor – arriving on a lazy Sunday afternoon in Brisbane.
It had been a long journey for this family to welcome their baby girl and whilst a caesaren birth was not the preference,
the day couldn’t have gone smoother for them and we got some precious photos.
The gender of their baby girl had been left as a surprise, so when she arrived safely in the world, the tears flowed all round.
We have some beautiful images taken during preparation for theatre, throughout the delivery and in the hours afterwards.
Gorgeous little Eleanor and her parents also spent some special moments together in the days after her birth,
getting to know each other and bonding as a new family. We went back a couple of days later to capture
some Fresh48 natural baby and family photos in the comfort of their hospital room at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
Welcome to the world beautiful baby girl. We know that you will make your adoring parents very happy.
Welcome Earthside ELEANOR xx

In October, I supported a couple and photographed their successful VBAC birth of baby Samuel.
Aiming for a VBAC can be a hard thing in today’s modern world where hospitals and doctors put
tremendous pressure on women to have a repeat c-section. Doing your research and knowing the options
and risks is crucial to attempting a VBAC – as is having a fully supportive birth team – especially a Doula.
Having had 2 successful VBAC’s myself, Renee approached me to not only photograph her birth but support
her as a friend and stand in doula.
Armed with information, support and a belief in herself and her body she headed to the birth suite to deliver her son.
Despite ongoing pressure from her medical team, everything went great and she had a very successful and empowered vbac birth.
Samuel was born perfect and Renee walked out of her birth suite with a fist pump and an “I did it!”
I’m incredibly proud of you Renee. You worked hard before and during to achieve this outcome.
Relish in that post-baby, post-vbac high!! You’ve earned it.

Darling little Maci-Sue and her family visited the studio recently for a lifestyle newborn photo shoot. This beautiful family have been through so much to have their darling little girl and she is certainly a much loved blessing!! Check out this beautiful story and photos by an Austin photographer (Lifestyle Newborn Photography), Selena Rollason.
Let me tell you the story of the very special bassinet that appears in these photos…..
A number of years ago, this young Dad’s Mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Knowing that she may not live to see the day her son and his wife became parents, she went out and purchased them some very special baby gifts – ones that she hoped would one day be used for her grandchildren. It was her way of supporting them and their family even after she was gone.
This amazing lady passed away around 18 months or so ago….only months before her son found out that they were expecting their first child. She was never given the opportunity to meet her Granddaughter or see her sleeping in her special bassinet…let alone cuddle and kiss her or congratulate her son.
So when we were planning this photo shoot, I asked the family if they had anything special to bring (not knowing the story at this point). I suggested that they bring their bassinet if they had one. Dad managed to bundle it up and fit it into the back of the car so we could include it in the photos.
During the shoot, the story of the bassinet came out and we all ended up in tears. I was determined to create some ‘extra special’ memories for this family!
Little Maci-sue now shares a very special connection to her Grandmother and these memories of her in this bassinet will always be incredibly special for this family.
I feel very honoured to have captured these!

This is the story of a birth, a baby and a bag of forewaters……one that left everyone in awe in the birth suite (together with (initial) confusion, fascination, intrigue and whatever else we were all thinking at the time).
Now we all know that unborn babies live happily in a very watery bag of amniotic fluid from early in pregnancy until the day that they are born.
And that that bag of waters generally breaks at sometime during labour and delivery.
Well sometimes it doesn’t…..and we are left with interesting moments handed to us thanks to the humans body’s anatomical mechanisms.
The images that follow, so a large bag of forewaters that arrived, trickled out slowly (when the membranes burst) and marked the beginning of the final stages of delivery.

Forewaters? Please explain?!?!
The mechanism seen here is described and depicted beautifully by Dr Rachel Reed from Midwife Thinking:
“During labour forewaters are formed as the lower segment of the uterus stretches and the chorion (the external membrane) det
aches from it. The well flexed baby’s head fits into the cervix and cuts off the fluid in front of the head (forewaters) from the fluid behind (hind waters). Pressure from contractions cause the forewaters to bulge downwards into the dilating cervix and eventually through into the vagina. This protects the forewaters from the high pressure applied to the hind waters during a contraction and keeps the membranes intact. The forewaters transmit pressure evenly over the cervix which aids dilatation.”
